The Ossipee Mountaineers
Snowmobile Club was founded in 1974 by
a local group of snowmobile enthusiast who felt the community would benefit
from an organized club. The founding principals of respect for the
landowners, care for the environment and community involvement in a fun,
social oriented network is still the focus of today's clubs.

|
The name Ossipee Mountaineers is
derived from two of the most well known landmarks in town - Little Ossipee
Lake and Ossipee Mountain. Designed and drawn by Kathy Leighton, a
longtime Waterboro resident, this logo has been the symbol of our club for
over 30 years. Look at the logo and see the mountain, the historic
fire tower, the lake and the pines that surround our community - a community
that we are proud to be a part of!

Our club
is very family oriented! The youth of today is the future of our sport
tomorrow. By involving our youth now in club activities, trail work,
club rides and fund raising events, the youth is learning safety,
responsibility, respect for landowners, the environment and all that it
takes to keep our sport prospering. We are also teaching our young
people the importance of giving back to our local community. Our club
has long been the home to the Waterboro Senior Diners who meet twice a
month. The club also supports 2 local scout troops, several local
charities and is a member of the Waterboro Association of Businesses.
|
|
The club meets on the first
Saturday of the month from September thru April. Meetings begin at 6 pm
with a family potluck dinner. Following dinner, the adults have a general
club meeting while the kids work on seasonal craft projects or just enjoy
hanging out. Membership dues for the Ossipee Mountaineers is only $27.00 a
year for single and family membership. Yearly dues include a membership to
the Maine Snowmobile Association, a subscription to the Maine Snowmobiler
and The Ossipee Mountaineer newsletter. Many insurance companies offer
discounts to riders who belong to a snowmobile club! |

Club trip to Caribou, Maine |
The club plans yearly club trips
to northern Maine or where ever our fancy takes us as well as having local
informal rides from the clubhouse on weekends when snow conditions permit
and annual family rides topped off with hot chocolate around a bon-fire.
The club holds an annual swap meet and raffles off a snowmobile yearly to
help support the local trail system and maintains and grooms over 40 miles
of trail through out the Waterboro community.
